Attitude of Gratitude

I don’t know about you, but virtually every November in elementary school we had at least one activity (if not one weekly) that helped us to reflect on what we were grateful for.  Family, friends, food, pets, and those all-important video games were sure to make the top of our lists.  As our teachers pushed us to go further, we would get more and more creative naming things we could see in the room – like chairs, tables, desks, and books – to those inanimate objects – like air, water, love, patience, and kindness.  However, as with anything we grew up and moved on.  Middle school and high school passed in a blur.  And before we knew it we were faced with choices such as work, college, travel, and/or family.

That simple act of taking time out to list all the things we are grateful for may seem foreign to many of us today.  We do not have time to do that.  We are busy people.  Plus, all of those around us know that we love them and are thankful for them.  However, when is the last time you said, “thank you” to someone for being there?  Not necessarily for anything they gave, but for being themselves?  What about a gratitude list?  Can you go through the whole alphabet and name something that you are thankful for that starts with each letter of the alphabet?  Can you do it twice?  Attitudes of gratitude take work, but the result is so very rewarding.

And on that note, we want to thank all of our employees for all the hard work that they have done this year.  We see you working with our clients day in and day out.  We know that this is probably one of the hardest jobs that you will ever love doing.  It requires you to use many different skill sets – a cook, a teacher, a chauffeur, a mentor, a housekeeper, and so much more.  Nevertheless, you do it all without hesitation and you treat all of our clients with respect and dignity.  We are so thankful and grateful for you.  We could not ask for a better staff to work with.  Thank you all for being who you are and for joining us on this journey together!  You are what makes us awesome.  So thank you again.  You have helped spur us on with an attitude of gratitude!
